ONGOING PROGRAMS
Meals on Wheels - Oldest and largest organization in the US representing those who provide meal services to people in need. Many members are involved with delivering meals. If you are interested in delivering meals or know of someone who needs meals provided to them, please contact Don or Mary Mestler at 892-5999.
LICS (Lexington Interfaith Community Services) - Organized to provide basic needs for families in crisis. LICS provides food through their food pantry, Emergency Services, clothing (adults and children), toys, and household items through the Thrift Shop and financial assistance. LICS is always in need of volunteers. We have many volunteers through our church including the youth who go to LICS on Beulah Work Day, which is the last Friday of each month. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Corinne Slattery at 892-5376 for more information or go to www.LICSSC.org.
World Day of Prayer/Christian Unity - Dates back to the 19th Century when Christian women of the US and Canada initiated a variety of cooperative activities in support of women involvement in mission at home and in other parts of the world. A service is held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on the first Friday of March. This service is conducted by the women of the church (community based) with food and fellowship provided after the service. A bible study is also held here at Beulah the end of February each year. If you are interested in helping out with the service in any way or provide food for after the service, please contact Joan Fraley at 892-2924.
Christmas in Lexington County - Is an outreach program held the 3rd or 4th Saturday of April every year where literally hundreds of volunteers in our community come together to improve the homes of homebound, elderly citizens so they can stay independent as long as possible. We have many volunteers each year to help out with this ministry. If you are interested in being a volunteer, please contact Jim or Karolyn Grimm at 892-8749. Also, if you know of anyone who needs home repairs, own their home, 65 years and older and has no one in the family to do the repairs contact Jim or Karolyn for an application.
Fun, Food and Fellowship - This program has grown so much over the past years that it is almost unbelievable (God is Good and He does provide). We now have grown to approximately 90-100 participants from the community attending each month for fun, food and fellowship. We meet in the Family Life Center every 2nd Thursday of each month at 10:30 a.m.. ALL AGES ARE WELCOME. The majority of people come from our community and many churches are represented. We play bingo, make crafts, have fellowship with others and of course LUNCH. Participants come also from community nursing homes and leisure centers - and come by the bus loads. If you are interested in attending or being a volunteer, please contact Theresa George (894-9592), Joan Fraley or Mary Mestler.
Epworth Children's Home/Connectional Ministries - Mission statement is to serve children, youth and families through a caring, accepting and safe Christian community where hurts are healed; hope is nurtured; and faith in God, self and others is developed. Epworth has 2 important times of the year for donations that we collect for which is a Mother's Day and Work Day offerings; however, they accept donations all year round too. For more information regarding Epworth or Connectional Ministries, please contact Margaret Mallory (892-3751) or Susie Vanderbrink (892-5792). Click this link for more information www.EpworthChildrensHome.org.
Operation Reachout - Churches within the community come together and provide a meal and worship service to people in need within the community at a local church. We provide a meal on Monday nights (every 4 months). This is a great opportunity to be able to have fellowship with others in need and provide them a nice warm meal which they may not have otherwise gotten. If you would like to volunteer your time, please contact Theresa George at 894-9592.
Salkehatchie Camp Meal - We provide a meal for the teens and adults who participate in Salkehatchie each year where these individuals go out and repair homes for people in the community. These are some hard working teens and adults and after a long day's work they are very tired and hungry. We provide a meal one night during the 2nd or 3rd week of July for them each summer here at the church in the FLC. If you are interested in being a volunteer whether it be providing food or working in the kitchen, please contact Tonya Gossett at 894-8649.
Kathy's Angels - This is a new outreach program for us just started this past fall. One of the lady's within our church provided us "angel necklaces" to wear on our very first mission trip this past August to North Dakota as a reminder to us that God is always with us no matter where we are. Well, to make a long story short we as a group decided to start up a mission called "Kathy's Angels". The supplies to make these angels are provided through donations. We are currently in the process of getting supplies together to send to Spirit Lake Ministry Center in North Dakota for the missionaries there to use during their "Sidewalk Sunday School". This is where they have a trailer they take out into the community and do "Sidewalk Sunday School" where they provide bible study, crafts and games for the children on the Native American Reservation. These supplies we are sending will go for them to use and have the children make their own "Kathy's Angels". We are very proud of this ministry and thank Ms. Kathy who has done so much for helping us to get this ministry started. For more information or if you would like a necklace , please contact Tonya Gossett (894-8649) or Kathleen (Kathy) Applegate. To make a donation, please mail a check to Beulah UMC 161 Beulah Church Road, Gilbert, SC 29054.
Weight Watchers - Meets every Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. in the Social Hall downstairs. We will continue to have meetings here as long as we have enough people to meet our quota. Anyone is welcome so please join us. We have a great, small group. Please contact Tonya Gossett at 894-8649 for more information.
Thank you for your continued support of these ministries.
